Rob Russell

Sr. VP of National Sales & Distribution

Rob Russell is a native South Carolinian who has enjoyed an exciting career in the entertainment industry as a production electrician and programmer. After graduating with a degree in mechanical engineering from Clemson University, Rob decided to ignore conventional wisdom and leaned on his hard earned technical knowledge and problem solving abilities to get an entry level job as a production assistant.

Looking to establish a more stable career after six years of touring, he found his way into the Atlanta production market in 2007. Since that time, Rob has worked extensively in stage performances as well as film and television projects such as The Walking Dead, BET Hip Hop Awards, a string of Marvel films, and the Superbowl LIII Halftime Show. He currently holds a lighting director position on Family Feud with Steve Harvey.

Rob has always placed a specific emphasis on training and continuing education in the entertainment industry. In 2008, he became the first IATSE member to achieve the ETCP Entertainment Electrician certification in the state of Georgia.

In March 2022, Rob accepted an opportunity to become a member of the Lightscape/Blue Planet team. After 20 plus years of working on productions of all types, he is excited to be able to support the industry from the vendor side. He currently serves as the head of crew services and enjoys introducing the myriad of products offered by Lightscape and Blue Planet to our customers.

When not engaging in something lighting related, Rob can be found hanging with his wife, dogs and cat. His hobbies are disc golfing, playing backgammon, reading, attending live music events, and on the lucky occasion, Scuba diving.
